$10 Liberty Gold

The $10 Liberty Head, also known as the $10 Eagle or Coronet Eagle, was minted from 1838 - 1907, with several different types through the years. Designed by Christian Gobrecht Miss Liberty is looking left with a small crown, the coronet, inscribed with the word Liberty. The reverse features an Eagle, wings spread with the shield over its chest, "UNITED STATES of AMERICA" and "TEN D." around the edge.

Of all the gold coinage that resulted from the 1834 law the Coronet Eagle was in the least demand, thus mintages reflect lower numbers of coins produced and today that translates into scarcity. In fact 5 years saw production of fewer than 1000 gold coins.
